Would you like to know some techniques for overcoming negative thoughts? For most, our negative thinking may naturally be part of ourselves.

Negative thinking will not result in anything, except in making your feelings worse. This will result in your actions and/or results being sub-standard and poor.

Here are nine techniques to prevent and overcome negative thoughts

1. Live in the moment

Thinking about the past or the future is something that often make us anxious. Rarely do we panic because of the current events. If you find your mind trapped in what has happened or what will happen, remember that it is only today that you can control.

2. Say positive things to yourself

Tell yourself that you are strong, you are capable. Say it constantly throughout your days. Start the day by saying positive things about yourself and let the mind or natural energy manifest your desires.

3. Believe in the power of positive thinking

If you think positive, positive things will come and the problem will feel lighter. Conversely, if you think negative, negative things will happen to you. This is a universal law, like the law of gravity or energy exchange.

4. Do not be silent

Look for what makes you think negatively, then work on fixing it from your life. If it cannot be fixed, stop complaining because that it will only waste your time and energy. It will also cause you to become more negative.

5. Focus on the positive things

It seems human nature is to be negative. This is probably because our mind’s default setting is for survival, not happiness or abundance. We often forget what we have and focus more on what we do not have. Make a note of gratitude. No matter the time, each day write down five positive things that happened on that day.

Positive things can be big things or little things like a “sunny day” or an “evening meal was amazing”. As long as you remain consistent to do this activity, it can change your negative thoughts into a positive thoughts.

6. Move

Exercising releases endorphins that can make you feel better. Even if it’s just walking around the house or running 2 miles, physical activity will make you feel better. When you feel the negative spirit, physical activity for 15 minutes can make you feel better.

7. Face your fear

Negative feelings come from fear. The more afraid you are, the higher your chances of living out your most negative thoughts. If you’re afraid of something, do something about it. Fear is a part of life, and we have the choice to not let fear stop us.

8. Try new things
Trying new things can also increase self-confidence. By saying yes to your life, you’ll open up more opportunities for growth. Stay away from the thought: “yes, but…”. A new experience, small or large can make life more fun and fulfilling.

9. Change perspective

When things do not go well, find a way to look at it from a more positive perspective. In every challenge, there is a chance to learn and grow. So invest in yourself by embracing challenges.
